Electronic Travel Authorization : A new entry requirement in Canada
The Government of Canada has introduced a new entry requirement which is known as the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is for visa exempt foreign nationals traveling to Canada by air. Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travelers with a valid visa.
The form for this new admittance procedure needs to be filled out by eligible travelers at Canada.ca/Eta, prior to their trip to Canada, as it will be required in order to board their flight.
This authorization was available starting from August 1, 2015 but it is now mandatory as of March 15, 2016.
eTA eligible applicants must have a valid passport, email address and credit card (CA $7) in order to complete the online form; authorization is usually received within minutes.
It is strongly recommended that eligible travelers apply for the eTA at time of booking.
