Host families

The host family is there as a volunteer to welcome the children during their stay  in Canada.

Quebec's hosting is  known and famous for  being warm and friendly which is a part of their tradition. This is something that has kept in the players'  minds forever.

They can also enjoy the outdoor ice rinks to practice their favorite sport and watch the games on TV so that they can live and dream about Hockey 24 hours a day.

The children can deeply feel the Quebec culture by being hosted in these families who offer them, other than their stay, breakfast, lunch and their famous “supper”. There is nothing better than to discover the traditions of Quebec. These children will also discover the touristic aspect of the region and its culinary assets. In addition to all these advantages, the price of the trip is also reduced.

A real community exists within these families who usually have kids that are around the same age. These children keep a strong and solid friendly bonding relationship even after their trip. They would often talk about an unforgettable cultural experience that can sometimes last forever.

If the atmosphere is overall good, the teams usually organize a celebration to thank all the families for welcoming them.

Taking part of the host family is like being a part of the Quebec family.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Before your arrival

Teams must fill in a health form to know if they have any allergies, fears, certain food restrictions and others. The hosting committee must also be informed if there is any kind of sickness, current medical treatment, or particular behavior involved.

The detailed information (name, address, phone number…) of at least one parent will have to be filled in on the list of accommodation in case of any emergencies.

During your stay

The players staying will have to respect and follow the hosting family's the way of life (schedules, meals time...) since they are not on their holiday break during your trip.

Every morning, families take the players to the ice rink. These schedules (generally between 7am and 9am) are made according to the activities that have been already planned or for the requirements of the family. The team responsible will have to be present at the ice rink for the arrival of the first family.

We want to remind you that it is essential that the hosted players must have an exemplary behavior anytime and anywhere, in the family and even within the tournament. In case of any problem, the hosting committee will take all the necessary measures to put an end to inappropriate behaviors.

It is important to note that the families are responsible of the players as soon as the parents, the team responsible or the guides have decided to take part of the exchange.

The parents can also spend a day with their child but they must inform the host family, the guide, the team responsible and their sponsor in advance. This is for security reasons and to know the condition of the player. This also works for the same way in case a family has to leave for any important reason such as sickness, a family issues, death of a loved one… Etc.

The day of the departure

A delegate/representative of each team must be on site at a pre-arranged time in advance with the team responsible, the guide and their sponsor in order to say goodbye to the players.
